Description
RAX 745 NADELLA Combined needle bearing – Heavy Duty
Nadella combined needle bearings type RAX 700 series and their derivatives are specifically designed to support both radial and axial loads simultaneously. They consist of a needle thrust bearing (or roller thrust bearing) combined with a needle cage, all integrated within a single outer ring.
These bearings are manufactured as a one-piece (integral) unit, which makes them easy to store, handle, and install. This design also reduces assembly complexity compared to using separate components, helping minimize installation errors.
A key advantage is their ability to handle high loads in both radial and axial directions while requiring minimal installation space. This makes them ideal for compact mechanical systems such as gearboxes, transmissions, and precision machinery, where space efficiency and performance are critical.
For calculation purposes, radial and axial loads are considered separately, without converting axial load into an equivalent radial load. This simplifies engineering calculations and improves accuracy in bearing selection.
Another important feature is the independent operation of the thrust bearing and the needle cage. This means that movement or load in one direction does not negatively affect the other. For example, axial expansion of the shaft due to temperature changes will not impact the accuracy of radial rotation—an essential benefit in high-precision applications.
These bearings can also be used without inner rings or thrust plates, provided that the shaft journals acting as raceways have sufficient hardness and an appropriate surface finish. A hardness range of 58–64 HRC is recommended to achieve full performance and durability.
Additional practical notes:
- Suitable for applications with combined loading conditions
- Helps reduce the number of components and assembly time
- Provides high precision and reliable alignment
- Requires good shaft surface quality if inner rings are not used
